Numbers are limited and bookings are preferred. This is a great opportunity to see the native birds fed by our informative staff. Kiwi may come down to feed. Tour starts 11am daily. Meet at the reception area in the Information Center before 11am. Staff will greet you, issue a map of the reserve and personally guide you around the aviaries housing Kereru, Kakariki, Kaka, Weka, Kiwi, Morepork, Geckos, Tui, Scaup, Native Waterfowl, Kea, Tuatara, etc., and discuss other birdlife and aspects of the reserve. Duration: approx 70 minutes. Visitors are free to then walk around the remainder of the reserve at their own pace. Cost: $15.00 per adult, $6.00 per child. |
A good opportunity to see Tuatara and kiwi up close and learn about their unique place in the animal world. Visitors are welcomed and given a talk by a staff member. The talk covers aspects of Tuatara and Kiwi life cycles and unique features. This is followed by a walk to the eel feeding area and a presentation and feeding by your guide. This package is available to fit into the groups travel schedule. Cost: $15.00 per person. Duration: Approx 45 minutes, visitors are then free to “freedom walk” around the bushwalk and reserve. Limit: Minimum 5 people. |

This package has a focus on a diverse range of native fauna. Visitors are welcomed and given a talk by a staff member. The talk covers aspects of Tuatara and Kiwi life cycles and unique features. It is a good opportunity to see Tuatara and Kiwi up close followed by a guided tour through the aviaries and feeding of the Kiwi. The tour continues with a walk to the eel feeding area and a presentation and feeding of the eels by your guide. This package is available to fit into the groups travel schedule. Cost: $22.00 per person. Duration: Approx 90 minutes, visitors are then free to “freedom walk” around the bushwalk and reserve. Limit: Minimum 5 people. |
The “Real Kiwi Nature Experience”. The ultimate New Zealand native flora and fauna tour. Visitors are welcomed and given a talk by a staff member. The talk covers aspects of Tuatara and Kiwi life cycles and unique features. It is a good opportunity to see Tuatara and Kiwi up close, followed by a guided tour through the aviaries and feeding of the kiwi. The tour continues with a walk to the eel feeding area and a presentation and feeding of the eels by your guide. After the eel feeding your guide will take you on a guided tour of the bushwalk pointing out the diversity of the New Zealand bush. Silver fern can be viewed on the walk along with bush and wetland plants. This package is available to fit into the group travel schedule. A special visitors pack is given to each member of the group. Cost: $37.00 per person. Duration: Approx 120 minutes. Limit: Minimum 5 people. |

For non commercial, non adult up to secondary school level. School groups, girl guides, holiday programs, etc. Not for English languages or foreign students here on exchange programs. Meet and greet by staff, plus a talk on a subject of their choice. Sole use of area is set aside, e.g. group area, access to website free study sheets, access to Nga Manu images and use of images, eel feeding at 2pm. Cost: $2.00 per student. No charge for teacher and parent help with 1:5 ratios. Numbers over 1:5 ratio normal entry. Education groups are subsidised by Nga Manu Trust. If eel feeding is required other then the 2pm feeding, then this can be arranged for an extra $1.00 per student, this covers staff time. Duck food is available at $1.00 per bag. |
For army, Polytecs/English language groups, etc. This package is the same content as per Tui package. It is available to those groups that visit on a regular basis and want the Tuatara, Kiwi, eels and duck feeding experience. Cost: $12.00 per person. No charge to teaching staff. Duration: Approx 45 minutes, visitors are then free to “freedom walk” around the bushwalk and reserve. Limit: Minimum 5 people. |

As per standard entry but at a subsidised price. Cost: Adult $5.00, Child $3.00. Cost: $3.00 plus 50 cents per head. Provides members with free standard access to the reserve during opening hours. Two newsletters per year. Opportunity to attend special events and functions. Opportunity to provide support and suggestions toward the reserves operation. Standard entry prices discount on all value added products. One yearly renewable membership. Cost: Family: $70.00 Adult: $35.00 Child: $15.00 |
